Gotta have Piton beer by the Pitons

Authentic island food.  My favorite was the grilled plantains!  Sooo yum

Photos taken in St. Lucia

Sorry for the picture overload!  These were taken on our last full day in St. Lucia when we did an awesome excursion, and I couldn't help myself with the photos.  The island is just so beautiful!

We started first thing in the morning by taking a 45-minute boat ride to the other side of the island where the Pitons are located.  The Pitons are a pair of mountains that are a UNESCO world heritage site due to their size.  They flank Jalousie Bay on the southwest side of the island.  So after taking in the views of the breathtaking mountains, we pulled into the bay for snorkeling.  I have to admit, I was a little timid about snorkeling (after a slightly traumatizing event when I was younger), but it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip.  The fish and the coral are so beautiful, and being able to see and breathe while underwater was very peaceful!

Next we hopped on a bus and drove into the mountains/volcanos to the natural sulfur baths and hot springs.  You start by getting shoulder-deep into the 120-degree (not exaggerating) sulfur baths, then you step out and coat each other in mud.  The whole process is said to "make you look 10 years younger".  My skin was certainly softer afterwards, but I don't know about looking younger ;)  Then we took a short drive to another stop where we meandered through the trees and ended up at a natural waterfall that we could swim in.  It was so beautiful!  We ended the day with a fantastic home-cooked, authentic caribbean meal cooked by our tour guide's mother.  It was one of the best meals we've ever had!

I wore this knit romper from Zara for the day.  I only purchased it about a month ago so it may still be available in stores!  It was ideal to have only one article of clothing to be slipping on and off at each stop.  I pulled my hair back with a colorful silk scarf in the morning, but then changed to my St. Lucia flag bandana for the excursion.

xo, Annelise
